Charities that have helped me through my journey with Lymphoma
Below is a list of charities that have helped me through my Lymphoma Journey. If you click on each one, it will take you to their website so you can learn more on the amazing things they do, to help individuals living with cancer and their families. We need to support these charities as you or someone close to you may unfortunately need them someday.
Teenage Cancer Trust
Teenage Cancer Trust was there for me from the beginning, while I was going through my diagnosis as well as treatment, and after treatment had finished. I was given a clinical support nurse who was there for me through everything. Really makes this journey a little less scary. Could not have got through it without them.
Clic Sargent has helped me in many ways, providing me with a support worker who has been there for me from my diagnosis. They help you with emotional support, help you get the correct financial support, provide get together's with other individuals with cancer so you can gain friends that know exactly what you are going through. Provided myself with surprise gifts to help get through shielding. Another amazing charity that I would be lost without.
Cancer Funds for Children
Cancer Funds for Children are an amazing charity that provide support for children going through cancer and their families, from having someone to talk too, overnight stays at their Daisy Lodge facilities where you can relax and meet new people and families going through the same thing, to having group get together's with other cancer affected families and their Care Free Choir, where you can make friends and sing.
Lymphoma Action is another amazing charity that focuses on Lymphoma, and is the only UK charity to do so. They provide support and information on Lymphoma. The day of my diagnosis I received Lymphoma Action books and leaflets that gave great detail on Lymphoma and the treatments associated with it. This charity raises awareness on Lymphoma through talks, fundraising, etc, and I am now a proud volunteer for the charity.
Little Princess Trust
Little Princess Trust helped me keep my confidence and feel more like myself. They provided a free human hair wig that looks so natural you would think it was my own hair, so I felt confident wearing it. As it is human hair you can wash it and style it whatever way you want and it will last up to a year if cared for correctly. Thank you to everyone who donates their hair to the charity, you help so many children and young individuals who have to deal with cancer and its horrible side effects. No child should have to go through cancer but this charity helps them stay strong.
Macmillain provides support from having someone to talk too, to helping out with financial matters. They also provide leaflets on different cancers and how to cope with side effects of treatment.
The Sabrina Ryan Foundation
The Sabrina Ryan Foundation provides assistance for people experiencing the emotional and lifestyle effects of cancer treatment by helping with the cost of such things as a wig, eyebrow embroidery, complementary therapies or by providing financial assistance towards counselling.
Cancer Support UK
Cancer Support UK offer free Cancer Kits to people currently undergoing treatment as a practical aid to recovery. They have Cancer Kits, Chemo Kits and Kids' Kits, which are supplied free of charge, and can be ordered by patients themselves, or by friend and family members.
